Megan and Brian walked in side-by-side laughing. The homeless shelter was the only place where the two siblings would find a dog. Since they had recently moved here, they left their old lab at home with the parents. He was too old of age and the two found it hard to leave since he had basically grown up with the kids. Now it was possible that they would never see him again. But they had said their goodbyes and told their parents to keep them updated. Brian walked faster getting slightly ahead of Megan. He leaned against the counter watching to see if someone was around. Not long after the two decided to just go check out the kennels on their own. Megan walked on the opposite side of Brian as all the dogs began to bark as they both entered through the double doors. Megan was overwhelmed and quickly went to the first dog that was jumping up onto the linked fence. She stuck her fingers through the holes and the dog licked them. She smiled and continued. Brian didn't bother touching the dogs quite yet. They both had agreed that they wanted a younger dog. Near the end of the aisle of kennels was a little black lab mix sticking her nose under the chain-linked fence with her paws sticking out and her tail wagging vigorously. Megan laughed and smiled as she kneeled down and scratched the dogs nose. Brian stayed standing. She is adorable. He told his younger sister. Megan didn't say anything back but instead looked up at him with her own puppy-dog face. Brian chuckled and looked around for someone to assist them.

Caity kissed the forehead of the little puppy when she heard someone speak. Finally one of you little guys will be taken home! Caity said anxiously to the puppy as she stood up and stepped out of the fenced area, closing the gate behind her. Their backs were to her, looking at one of Caity's favorite dogs at the shelter. A smiled crawled across her face before she spoke. Hello, my name is Caity, She said with a smile, sticking out her hand for a shake. How may I help you? She asked, her focus switching back and forth between the couple.

When Megan heard another's girl's voice she popped up from her squatting position and turned around to face the girl who looked to be about her age. She secretly rolled her eyes, expecting Brian to start sweet talking her or something. He usually did that to almost every girl he saw. But when he didn't speak she butted in for him. Hi Caity I'm Megan and this is my brother Brian. We were interested in finding a new puppy. Megan spun around and looked at the puppy who was now sitting patiently staring up at the three of them with her tail wagging behind her. Then Megan turned back around. We're interested in this little on here. She pointed to the puppy who suddenly barked. Megan jumped and turned back around and looked at the pup. A big smile was placed across her delicate face.
Brian stood with his hands in his pockets and looked at the girl when she appeared. She was suddenly speechless, which was strange for him, usually he could just talk to any girl like it was nothing but he didn't say anything and just stared. Megan had bumped him and he woke from his temporary daydream and smiled at her then looked at the puppy without looking back at the girl. It was too difficult.

Caity nodded. Of course! She said stepping closer towards the gate. So, you already like this little one, but what are you looking for in a dog? Caity said, normally when people first saw a dog that they liked, it didn't match what they wanted in a dog, just the physical features. She looked towards the two siblings, awaiting their reply and stuffed her hands into her jeans pocket, feeling the receipt from Starbucks still in there from when she had moved out here. Oh, what a small town, it doesn't even have a Starbucks. She thought to herself with a laugh. Then she remembered that she was here to help these people find a puppy and she snapped out of it. She looked to the guy, Wow... nice eyes... She thought to herself again, before quickly looking to the girl who introduced herself as Megan.

Megan moved out of the way so the girl was able to get to the dog. She glared at Brian had his arm lifted up above his head and was scratching his back. He raised his eyebrows at Megan and Megan rolled her eyes and turneda way, secretly nudging him. It was weird. A lot of siblings were rivalries but her and Brian had always gotten along. Maybe because they were so close in age. He was only about a year and a half older than herself. She threw the thought away and thought about the answer to Caity's question. Well Brian needs someone to exercise with. She laughed and elbowed Brian who finally put his arm down and slipped it back into his pocket, still avoiding eye contact with the girl. And I own Thunder Horse Stables and was interested in having our dog there while Brian is working in the arenas. So someone with a lot of energy is probably what I'm trying to say. She giggled again realizing that what she said probably made absolutely no sense to Caity.

Caity nodded. Oh, yeah, absolutely! She said as she walked to the gate to open it. Then you guys for sure picked the perfect little one for you! He is full of energy!!! Caity said with a laugh. I can never get energy out of him! Caity said with a laugh, stepping inside the gate, and getting down on one knee and scratching Tango's ears. She turned to Brian and Megan. You guys can come on in! She said with a smile, scratching Tango one last time before letting her go sniff and explore the new things that just walked into her temporary home.

Megan grabbed Brian's hand hoping it would get him to act at least a little social. She squeezed his hand and let go of it when Tango ran up and jumped up onto her. She laughed and patted her head. You're just so so cute Tango. She said in a baby-talking voice. Brian rolled his eyes and bent down near Caity and put his hand out. Tango jumped off of Megan and ran to Brian and began licking his face. Urgh!!! He yelled, not quite expecting the dog to do that. Megan laughed as Tango ran away from him. Brian tried to wipe his face with his sleeve but he didn't seem to get it. He continued to avoid eye contact with Caity. She probably thinks I'm an idiot. He told himself as he stood up and stepped out of the kennel. He continued to wipe his face consistently until every last bit of slime was gona... so he thought. Then he walked back in. Megan laughed at him but didn't say anything. The dog was on her back now and Megan was scratching her tummy. She looked at Caity. Well she's definitely going to need some training I'm guessing. Caity watched Brian and laughed as he came back in, she pulled her hand up to her face but then shook her head, thinking it wasn't worth it. She looked at Megan with a smile. Well, we're hoping that once she stops moving from shelter to shelter and can settle down with a family and be loved and have all the attention she needs, then she will be better. She has been trained, you just probably need to remind her. Hopefully there won't be too many incidents or anything, there hasn't been any here so far.. Caity said with a smile. She's a great dog, she really is, she just can't be in a shelter and get what she needs. No dog can.

Megan nodded and continud to scratch Tango's belly. She completely understood where Caity was coming from. I wish I could just take them all home. She kidded and looked over at Brian hoping he would maybe say something now. Brian looked at Megan and got the hint. He wiped his face and suddenly it felt really hot in the building. Is she good around other animals? He asked. It was a loud tone but his manly voice gave away his attitude. He looked at her and smiled, showing off his white, straight teeth but he quickly looked back down at the dog. Tango slowly walked over to Brian again as if to say sorry and Brian scratched her behind the ear.

Oh, yeah, of course, don't we all! She said to Megan. She looked to Brian. Caity couldn't help but giggle a little whenever Brian looked at her with that little bit of slobber still hanging onto his face. She nodded. Oh yea, of course! She is great with other animals! She said with lots of re-assurance in her voice. So you own the stables? She said, it directed towards Brian. Well, she hasn't been really introduced to horses, so it might take a little bit of time for her to get used to big animals and such, so you just have to be patient. Caity said as she kneeled down as Tango came back over to her. She was sure going to miss this little puppy if they took her home with them.

Megan smiled. She noticed the drool that was still hanging off Brian's eyebrow. She cleared her throat to gain his attention. When he looked at her with wide eyes she brushed her eyebrow and gave him the hint. He quickly wiped his eyebrow with his hand then wiped his hand on his pants. He looked back at Caity, wondering if she had noticed. Well we both own the barn really but Megan's the one who's in charge and keeping everybody on track. She talked quickly then stood up from his crouching position. Megan stood as well and smiled at the puppy who went to Caity. Then she looked at Brian. I really like her. She said to Brian. Brian nodded. Me too. He said. Megan looked back at Caity again. And I'm sure she'll do fine around the horses. I can already tell she's a sweetheart.

Caity giggled as she watched Brian wipe his eyebrow, then she turned her attention to what had been said. Caity jumped up with excitement. Oh yeah, she is extremely fabulous! And she will do wonderful!!!! Caity was so excited that Tango would be the first to get a home, she truly deserved it, and couldn't be herself in a cage. She looked eagerly to Tango, knowing that she would be so happy with Megan and Brian. Are there any other questions you guys have? Would you like to look at anyone else?

No! Megan said quickly, knowing that if she looked at other dogs there was no way she would be able to choose. Plus she had already fallen in love with Tango and believed she needed a better life than here and a family who would love her. She looked at Brian. Any questions? She teased him, knowing that he wasn't acting like his normal self. Brian shook his head. He looked at Caity. Thank you. He told her and began to exit the kennel with Megan following closely behind him.

Caity jumped up a little bit when she heard Megan spurt out "No." She giggled and nodded. Alright, sounds good. She said. Would you guys like me to get you a leash or anything? She asked as she led Tango out of the kennel. She stopped, and told Tango to do so also as she awaited the response of Megan and Brian.

Megan watched Tango as she ran out of the kennel and saw how behaved she was when Caity told her to stop. Megan giggled. Yea just in case she doesn't listen to us. She laughed again, joking a little. Brian rolled his eyes at Megan and spun around to Caity. You've been very helpful. I'll... we'll keep you updated with Tango. He said, correcting himself. That was a close one. He thought.

Caity smiled. Of course! She said as she walked around the corner and grabbed a leash and a card. She handed the two to Brian. Here is the leash, and the card with the shelter's number. Feel free to call us or stop by anytime! She said as she knelt down to say goodbye to Tango, who licked her face, Caity stumbled back a little bit and giggled. Goodbye baby! She said kissing her on the top of her head and scratching her one last time. I'm gonna miss you! She said standing up again and looking at Megan. Keep me posted!!!

Brian hesitated to take the leash and collar and when he did he continued to hold it, figuring Tango wouldn't need it right away. He smiled at her. Megan clapped her hands lightly and Tango came trotting over to her wagging her tail. We'll take really good care of her. Thank you Caity. She said and did a little jog up the kennel aisle, causing all the other dogs to start barking like crazy. Megan stopped running and Tango followed close behind her. Brian stayed back a little. Well... Bye. Thanks. He said and smiled again. He began to walk away.

Caity smiled and waved. Goodbye!!! She said. I hope you guys enjoy her as much as I have!! She said before stuffing her hands in her pockets and slowly walking up to the front of the shelter, passing every other dog on the way, they realized that one of their friends was leaving, That has got to be hard... I couldn't imagine people looking at me and deciding on someone else. She thought to herself as she bit her lip.
