The song was about half way through now and he wished it was longer. Afterall she did say she would dance only once. He pressed his forehead against hers and continued to sway back and forth. He closed his eyes and felt the dance and felt Eliza. He moved his hand down her back a little more but not too much. He was no purvert. He wanted to kiss her badly, and he couldn't hold it back any longer. Can I kiss you? He asked at nearly a whisper. His eyes opened and looked at hers. His heart began to beat quickly. It had been a while since he kissed a girl but that wasn't the reason he wanted to kiss her.

As his hands moved down her back, she wished the dance would not end. She was feeling so good, she hadn't felt this good in a long long time. As they moved together to the song she really hoped they could stay that way for ever.
Her heart rate sped up as he asked her if he could kiss her, and she merely nodded, looking into his eyes.

Brian smiled at her, giving her comfort. He wasn't sure if she was nervous or felt pressured. He sure hoped she didn't feel that way. But when she smiled all the worries in the world went away. He let go of her hand but kept his other hand on her back. He put his other hand on her cheek bone, never taking his eyes off of hers. He then leaned in and his soft lips touched hers. Even he began to get goosebumps and he never wanted to let go of her. He wasn't sure if he was in love, but he believed it was heading that way. But you can't love someone the same night you meet them, it just didn't work that way. His lips left hers and he wanted to kiss her more, but he wouldn't initiate it.

Everything was perfect. Downright perfect. The only question remaining was: was she falling for Brian? I mean, like really really in love? She knew better, love at first sight was far from being true, then again, she was about to make an exception...
As he pulled away, she opened her eyes. Staring into his for a couple of seconds, she leaned for the second kiss, hoping this time it would last longer.

Brian smiled at her when she looked back at him after the first kiss. She looked different than just a few seconds ago. Their dancing had halted and instead they were just standing in the middle of the dance floor and looking at each other. When she leaned in for another one Brian smiled again and pressed his lips against her. He put his hands on the back of her head and messed with her long wavy hair. He closed his eyes, enjoying the feeling of where they were and what they were doing.

Something was wrong. She felt wrong. All the blissful happiness had gone away somehow. Her eyes flashed open as a face appeared in her mind. Her stomach was twisted with fear and she pulled away suddenly, all her fear visible in her eyes "Sorry.." she apologized "I can't, I'm sorry" she said as she walked away, half-running, yelling for someone to take her place at the bar. As soon as she walked out, she was greeted by the cool night air. She leaned against the wall, taking deep breaths.

He felt his heart snap in half all of the sudden and he thought he did something wrong. Again. He watched as Eliza half-ran off the dance floor and panic flud through his body. He stood on the dance floor thinking back through what happened... no he did nothing wrong. He asked and she initiated. What was so wrong about it. He wouldn't let her go until he found out what was wrong. He ran out of the door following her and caught up with her outside. Eliza... He said, putting his hands up and givin her a confused look. What... what happened? Did I... do something I mean... what's wrong? He asked and stopped where he was, not wanting her to run off. Does she have a boyfriend? He thought to himself, which made him panic even more. He was in trouble if she did. I'm sorry Eliza. He said with sadness in his voice. This wasn't happening.

She stared at Brian and regreted having agreed with this in the first place. She had made him feel bad. "Everything's fine, I swear." Her voice was a whisper "It was not you, I mean, you were perfect" She took a deep breath. Why did she had to remember that at a time like that. "I'm really sorry for that, I didn't mean to make you feel bad" she continued, staring at the ground

Brian felt horrible. He believed he did something wrong, and he wished he knew what it was. He walked up to her and stood behind her, but made sure he wasn't too close, afraid he'd make her feel uncomfortable. He stood in silence for a while. He looked down at the gravel road. He could hear the country music inside. It was a loud and fast song now. He wondered what she was thinking and wished he knew what. Eliza what... what happened? He asked with worry in his voice. He feared that it wouldn't work with her.

She sighed as she sat on the front steps of the club "I didn't move from New York to this place just for fun" she said with a sad laugh. "Back there, while we were... I just remembered someone very dear to me, someone that I lost recently" her eyes glistened, but she held back tears, she wasn't going to cry, not anymore.

She does have a boyfriend. Or at least had one. He thought to himself as he came and sat down next to her on the steps. He wanted to put his arm around her, comfort her, but he was scared to. Instead he held his hands together and leaned forward on his knees. He looked down on the sidewalk, trying to figure out what to say next. He sighed a little. He sympathized for her and wished he knew what happened, and who it was. It was obviously a boy. What happened? He asked in a sympathetic voice. He hoped she'd tell him but if it was too personal he would understand... he thought.

"He... Passed away" she said chocking back the tears. She felt terrible for him, for what she was putting him trough. And she still couldn't understand why she had remembered him

Brian listened and wondered even more what happened. But when she said 'he' Brian knew. A boyfriend... He didn't look up but he did nod, acknowledging her bravery to tell him. I'm sure it was hard for her to talk or even think about it. Do you want to talk about it? He asked, this time looking up at her. Suddenly he thought of her as a good friend besides a girlfriend. He wouldn't rush her in to anything and would wait for the right moment to ask her out, if she felt up to it.

"There's nothing to talk about. We were in a car and some drunk dude shoved his car against ours. He dyed in the spot" The anger had replaced sadness in her voice. Brian was being really sweet, even after what she had put him through. She leaned against him as she sighed "You know what this is?" she asked as she pulled the silver chain she had around her neck from beneath her sweater in order to reveal a silver ring with a diamond.

Brian felt bad and sad all at the same time. She wouldn't be able to get over him. That was always tough, especially when she actually saw it. He looked down at the sidewalk and watched as two drunk girls walked out of the bar. He watched them climb in the car and drive out of the parking lot like maniacs. He quickly looked away then looked at what Eliza pulled out of her shirt. He liked how she leaned on him and felt like he was helping, which was always a plus. He eyed the piece of jewelry. Did he give that to you? He asked, sounding a little sad but not so much as to make it noticable.

"It was an engagement ring" she said with a smile. She stared out into the night for a while. All things considered, her feelings for Brian might not be exactly what she thought they would be, at least for the moment. Still, he was being great just by bearing with her. He sure seemed sad. "It's funny how life can slap you in the face when you least expect it... But I shouldn't take anymore of your time, I'm being a burden and I should probably get back home..." she said without moving.

All hope was suddenly lost. Brian would have to wait for her since she was basically engaged. He didn't want to wait though. He just wanted her. He wanted her to be his girl. He wanted to belong to her so badly. But she also had to learn that life was hard but you can only forgive it. Brian looked at her hand and wanted to grab it and not let go. He wanted to tell her that everything was alright, but he didn't want to be too pushy. He wanted her to feel comfortable with whatever decision she made with Brian. It didn't seem like she wanted him just yet though. Don't leave Eliza. He said, and reached for her hand, even though he had told himself not to just moments ago. He squeezed it and looked he in the eyes, seeing them water. Eliza I'm sorry that happened. He said and kept hold of her hand. If she took it away his heart would break more, and he felt if he let go, he'd lose her. Things like that happen and I know it's hard for you. I can't imagine. He said, feeling horrible for her. But you have to believe that there's still hope. He spoke with soft words and continued to look at her with a serious face.

She sighed "I should probably stop basking in the past, it only brings grief" She said, tucking the ring inside her sweater. "And since he's not coming back, I should stop doing this". Right now being Brian was somehow making her feel better, as if all the worries could just disapear.
She sighed again, closing her eyes "I'm really sorry to have dumped all this on you. You don't deserve it"

Brian couldn't let her get away from him. She needed him right now and he needed her. But he didn't think she realized it the way he did. He put his arm around her shoulder, letting go of her hand. He gripped her shoulder. He didn't want to be rude, he really didn't. Eliza I know you feel like you can't do this again but.... you can't live your life alone. He said in a generous tone. He didn't let her go and squeezed her even more. You have to keep trying. I think that's what he would have wanted for you. He said, his tone calming down. He let go and kept looking at her. He then turned away and looked at the sidewalk again, thinking that it was probably hopeless. She wouldn't be able to have him. She couldn't.

Eliza kissed him. Just like that, without warning she put both hands on his face and kissed him, hoping he wouldn't push her away, hoping that this time it would all turn out right. And it was. Perfect, like it was supposed to be. This had got to be love. She pulled away with a smile "Thanks"
